Our Training Approach
At Alabama Dance Theatre, training is designed to support dancers at every stage of their journey—from those seeking a recreational experience to those pursuing pre-professional study.
Rooted in the curriculum established by our founding Artistic Director, Kitty Seale, our program emphasizes both artistic expression and disciplined technique. Dancers are encouraged to explore their individuality while developing the focus, commitment, and work ethic essential to their growth.
ADT is proud to have alumni who have gone on to professional careers in dance, as well as others who have applied their training to success in a wide range of fields.

The Training Experience
Focused. Intentional. Individualized.
At Alabama Dance Theatre, training extends beyond technique. We foster an environment where creativity is encouraged, individuality is respected, and each dancer is challenged to grow with purpose and integrity.
We believe in meeting dancers where they are—recognizing that each student learns differently—while guiding them toward a shared standard of excellence.
By encouraging our dancers to explore, embrace, and pursue progress, we are not only shaping artists, but contributing to a stronger and more vibrant community.

Performance as Part of Training
At Alabama Dance Theatre, performance is an essential part of the training process. Dancers are given the opportunity to bring their work to the stage—developing confidence, artistry, and a deeper connection to their craft.
From full-scale productions to original works, students experience the discipline, collaboration, and commitment required of performing artists.
Through an audition-based process, dedicated dancers are invited to participate in the season, becoming an integral part of ADT’s artistic work.
